White Stallion Coal Plant Fails to Obtain Water Supply Contract
June 15, 2011 – Today the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) Board of Directors delayed a vote on providing water to the “White Stallion” coal plant proposed for Matagorda County. Though White Stallion’s Chief Operation Officer, Randy Bird, was expecting and asking for approval of a contract today, the board chose to table any further action until August 2011 at the earliest.
Speaking at the meeting, Glenrose Engineering Dr. Lauren Ross provided the Report released last week (below).
The LCRA has a total 21,784 AFY of Uncommitted Water to sell….but White Stallion Coal Plant’s boilers require 25,000 AFY. LCRA cannot sell water it does not have.
